Assistant to the Vice President for Research
With a boss who leads Iowa State’s research enterprise; oversees multiple research support units; and works with many boards, committees, and centers, Karen Bramow juggles multiple balls in the air at all times as assistant to Vice President for Research Sarah Nusser.
But that’s just how she likes it. “I’m happiest being right in the thick of things, helping Sarah with what she needs so she can work most effectively!”
Karen uses her outstanding organizational and people skills to manage OVPR projects. She joined the OVPR in 2016, after working in K-12 administration and private industry sales and customer service for many years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in administrative management from the University of Northern Iowa.
What is a favorite Iowa State University discovery?
“Nitro-freeze ice cream! Who doesn’t love ice cream? And just when you thought ice cream couldn’t get any better, it did, with the help of two Iowa State students and super-fast freezing with liquid nitrogen.”
