Why Do Individuals with Down Syndrome Have Low Fitness Levels—Are They Unmotivated?

Speaker: Dr. Tracy Baynard, Associate Professor, Kinesiology and Nutrition Director, Integrative Physiology Laboratory, College of Applied Health Sciences, University of Illinois – Chicago
Dr. Baynard is a clinical exercise physiologist with over 18 years of experience working with a variety of patient populations such as those with obesity, adults with type 2 diabetes, and individuals with Down Syndrome. Her overall research program is aimed at understanding how exercise can be utilized to maximize health among these clinical populations. In her upcoming talk, Dr. Baynard will showcase a diverse portfolio of research that highlights the unique determinants of cardiorespiratory fitness in Down Syndrome.
