Sponsored Funding
Grants Hub (GH). Help with finding funding, proposal and budget development, team building, graphics, editing, award review and more.
Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (OSPA). Submits proposals and establishes award contracts and amendments for externally supported research projects.
Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (OIPTT) and ISU Research Foundation, Inc. (ISURF). Technology transfer is the process of moving research results from the laboratory to the marketplace. OIPTT provides support services to the university community in matters related to intellectual property, working in concert with ISURF to facilitate and enhance the inventive and creative works of Iowa State employees and students and to transfer these works for the benefit of society.
ISU Foundation (ISUF). The Office of the VPR and OSPA collaborate with ISUF to assist investigators in the submission of proposals to and management of research awards from charitable foundations and other organizations.
Sponsored Programs Accounting (SPA). SPA provides post-award financial services for sponsored projects. Investigators should contact SPA if they have questions or concerns about their sponsored programs (4xx) accounts.
Research Practice
Office of Biotechnology. Connects Iowa State researchers with high-tech, biotech resources, services, and facilities, and provides biotech youth outreach.
Office for Responsible Research (ORR). Coordinates research protocol approvals for research involving humans, animals, biohazards, or radiation.
Office of Research Integrity (ORI). Manages risk in conflicts of interest, export control – regulations about limiting the transfer of information, technology, and materials – and unmanned aircraft.
Attending Veterinarian (AV). Partner in developing best care practices for animals used in testing, teaching, and research.
Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR). Provides quality and compliant care for laboratory animals.
Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). Services include laboratory safety, chemical waste management, biological and radiological safety, OSHA and EPA compliance, safety training, occupational health services, and emergency response preparedness.
Technology Transfer and Outreach
ISU Extension and Outreach. Extension and Outreach promotes economic development in efforts that are complementary to the technology transfer activities of the Office of the VPR. Persons interested in community economic development are encouraged to visit Extension Community and Economic Development.
Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations (EDIR). EDIR is the front door for businesses and industries that can benefit from access to the university’s vast array of expertise and facilities.

ISU Research Park (ISURP). The Research Park is a technology community and incubator of new and expanding businesses, helping young Iowa-based companies develop their potential, and nurturing scientific and technological entrepreneurial ventures.
Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS). Since 1963, CIRAS has partnered with Iowa companies and communities to help them prosper and grow. Businesses seeking assistance with understanding or adopting new technologies should contact the CIRAS Technology Assistance Program.
