Office of VPR invites proposals to three internal funding programs
The Office of the Vice President for Research invites proposals to three internal funding programs with due dates in early 2017.
The Presidential Interdisciplinary Research Initiative
The Presidential Interdisciplinary Research Initiative (PIRI) provides funding to form large-scale interdisciplinary research collaborations to address 21st century societal challenges. Teams are expected to develop and execute a transformational vision, create cross-institutional partnerships, and aggressively pursue external funding. In contrast to the recent focus on data-driven science, the PIRI is an open call with preference for building on key ISU strengths related to major grand challenge themes. Awards are $125,000 – $250,000 per year for up to three years. White papers are due Feb. 15, 2017.
Bailey Research Career Development Award
The Bailey Research Career Development Award is given annually to tenured associate professors or professors to pursue high-risk, high-impact research addressing emerging societal problems and resulting in practical application. Awards are $50,000 per year for up to three years. Applications are due to colleges by Jan. 31, 2017.
Brown Graduate Fellowship
Other internal competitions currently open
The Office of the Vice President for Research offers other internal funding programs, including two competitions currently under way:
Presidential Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grant program (applications due Jan. 9, 2017)
