Zuercher named director of Grants Hub

By Office of the Vice President for Research

Liz Zuercher has been named director of the Iowa State University Grants Hub, effective Feb. 15. She will lead the Grants Hub in providing faculty and staff with a broad range of services to help researchers pursue new opportunities in sponsored funding.

As director, Zuercher will oversee the Grants Hub’s staff and operations, particularly services related to finding new funding sources, developing successful grant proposals, and helping faculty understand and manage their awards.

“We are pleased to have Liz on board to steer the Grants Hub’s continued development,” said Sarah Nusser, vice president for research. “Liz brings a strong leadership experience to the Grants Hub, and will continue its mission as a vital service to help Iowa State researchers expand their externally funded research programs.”

Zuercher joins the Grants Hub after working in healthcare executive leadership, where she has gained experience in seeking and managing external funding and addressing regulatory requirements. Previous to that, she served as associate director for the Iowa State Office of Sponsored Programs Administration from 2001-2005.

Ásrún Ýr Kristmundsdóttir, director of strategic planning and operations for the Office of the Vice President for Research, has been serving as interim Grants Hub director since Sept. 5, 2015.

Current Grants Hub services include identifying external funding opportunities, planning and executing proposal submissions, and managing and complying with new awards. Visit the Grants Hub’s website to learn more or submit a service request.
